Permanent Call for Papers

The Revista Estud(i)os de Dança (RED) operates under a continuous publication model, encouraging the submission of articles that deepen the understanding of dance and its processes through scientific rigor, innovative methodologies, critical reflection, and transdisciplinary approaches.

Submission Categories

Original Articles

We invite submissions of original research articles, based on rigorous scientific investigation, including new data, results from experiments, quasi-experiments, or observational research that provide descriptive or inferential analysis of the collected data. These submissions should address philosophical, historical, sociocultural, or pedagogical aspects and follow a structured scientific format:

  • Introduction: Outline of the study, including a summary or discussion of relevant previous research.

  • Methodology: Detailed explanation of the approach and research methods used.

  • Analysis: Presentation of data analysis.

  • Discussion: Interpretation of results in the context of the study.

  • Conclusion: Summary of insights gained and implications for the field.

Review Articles and Theoretical/Conceptual Reflections

We also accept in-depth reviews and theoretical reflections that provide critical analysis and interpretation of specific topics. These should present a coherent flow of ideas, offer comprehensive interpretative references, question current understandings in dance academic research, and present original conclusions.

Connections

In the Connections section, we accept materials that are valuable for researchers, educators, and professionals:

  • Interviews: Structured dialogues with prominent figures in dance and performing arts, addressing topics such as technique, creative processes, and artistic challenges.

  • Biographies: Detailed accounts of the professional trajectories of dancers, choreographers, and other dance figures, analyzing their impact and contextualizing their contributions.

  • Testimonies: Personal and professional narratives from dance professionals, providing insights into lived experiences and challenges in the field.

  • Portfolios: Visual collections of works by notable dance professionals, highlighting their artistic achievements, choreographies, and contributions to the field.

Each submission undergoes a rigorous review process to ensure academic quality and relevance, providing readers with insightful perspectives on various aspects of dance practice and academic research.

Submission Guidelines:

Submissions in Portuguese or English are welcome, provided they meet the journal’s academic and technical standards. Articles should follow the submission guidelines and be submitted directly via the journal website, using the OJS platform. RED ensures a double-blind peer review process, and editorial policy requires that the publication of a submitted article is only guaranteed upon successful completion of the evaluation and review process.
