Author Biography
Actor, Researcher, Father, Son (but no more Grandson, unfortunately!). Wears earrings. Rhizomatic. Critical. Positive. Vital. Free, loose and bald. He always carries a bit of yellow, sun and night in his pockets to hand out for free. Even though the most important things have already been said, he has a degree in Performing Arts from UNICAMP (1993), a master's degree (1998) and a doctorate (2004) in Multimedia, also from UNICAMP. He is an actor-researcher at LUME - UNICAMP's Interdisciplinary Centre for Theatre Research, where he has been working theoretically/practically in all the centre's lines of research since 1993. He was President of ABRACE - Brazilian Association for Research and Postgraduate Studies in Performing Arts in the 2019/2020/2021 term. He is a permanently accredited professor and advisor in the Postgraduate Programme in Performing Arts - IA - UNICAMP. He has taught in postgraduate programmes - as a guest lecturer - at USP, UFPB (specialisation), FURB (specialisation), Escola Superior de Artes Célia Helena, Universidade de Évora (Portugal) and Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Portugal). He has published six books: ‘A Arte de Não Interpretar como Poesia Corpórea do Ator’ (Editora da UNICAMP and FAPESP - 2001), ‘Café com Queijo: Corpos em Criação’ (HUCITEC and FAPESP - 2006), ‘Corpos em Fuga, Corpos em Arte - ORG’ (HUCITEC and FAPESP - 2006); ‘Ensaios de Atuação’ (Perspectiva and FAPESP - 2013); Práticas Teatrais (Ed. UNICAMP and FAPESP - 2020) and Entre cenas, memórias e estilhaços (Between scenes, memories and shrapnel) (UNICAMP - 2022). He is the organiser of three other books published by ABRACE and HUCITEC in partnership with other researchers in the field. He was awarded the UNICAMP Academic Recognition Prize in 2021, as well as two other Shell Prizes (2013 and 2018) for work carried out at LUME. He has published numerous articles in the main performing arts journals, as well as several book chapters in important works in the field. He has presented shows and given workshops, lectures, debates, masterclasses, technical demonstrations and field research on his research and the work developed at LUME in many cities in Brazil and in 22 different countries.
